Gerhard
Artist
About
Gerhard by Leander Herzog and Richard Nadler is a generative code-based work that explores the boundaries of digital abstraction. Blending Nadler’s rich, painterly textures with Herzog’s precise algorithmic structure, the piece evokes the spirit of Gerhard Richter’s abstract oil paintings—refracted through the lens of code.
Color and data are layered in real time, creating an evolving visual field where fragments appear, dissolve, and reassemble into complex surface compositions. Gerhard is both expressive and unstable, a reflection of a world shaped by volatility, extremes, and ecological fragility. The result is a vivid meditation on impermanence and transformation—artistic gesture transposed into code, unfolding in perpetual motion.
