Ali Phi

Ali Phi is an Iranian-born transmedia artist, creative technologist and musician based in Toronto. His practice spans programming, generative audiovisual design, interactive media and immersive installation, tracing the relationships between geometry, science, light and poetry as they pass through a computer. Ancient Persian motifs and Middle Eastern ritual run through the work, reimagined rather than quoted. He came to it from environmental engineering and experimental film. In 2013 he founded NULLSIGHT, a Toronto collective of artists and programmers working in digital art and music, and since 2014 he has curated TADAEX, the Tehran Annual Digital Art Exhibition. He has performed at MUTEK.
