About the artist

Anna Lucia is a Dutch artist and engineer whose work combines geometric abstraction, entropy and strong colour. She studied art before switching to engineering at the Technical University of Delft, and specialised in water treatment before finding in code a medium that used both halves of her training. She writes custom software that generates images and makes textile work with an embroidery machine, translating traditional craft technique into algorithmic systems. Generations, built from an algorithm derived from the work of the Gee's Bend quilters, is one result. Her work has shown at Art Basel Miami, Vellum LA and the Decentral Art Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
