Michael Cina

Michael Cina is a Minneapolis-based artist, designer and typographer whose abstract painting and design practice share a single visual language. He holds a BFA in Studio Art alongside a degree in Visual Communication, and describes his painting as a decisive exploration of ideas drawn from observing the world, built from texture, time and the natural. He has created hundreds of album covers, most of them for Ghostly International, and has been designing typefaces since 1998, now through his foundry Public Type. He founded the studio Cina Associates in 2010 and the design resource YouWorkForThem. His design work has won an Emmy and been nominated for a Grammy.
